Introductory Profile:

The character of objects and particularly their design and making, through new technologies versus traditional crafts, as a cultural process, is the focus of Wendy Parker’s research. This includes examining the tradition-bound making of metal objects for house temples in Bali with the contemporary mass-production of objects by the Alessi company of Milan. Evaluations of these approaches are then applied to the work of Australian studio based practitioners including her own jewellery.
