Dr Vaughan Rees' research interrogates environment as a crucible for personal artistic practice in order to find clues as to how artists’ perceptions form and influence studio production. Certain pivotal sites have been investigated: Far North Queensland and Sydney, Australia, Paris and Provence, France and, Nova Scotia, Canada. Currently, he is examining how his perceptions of contemporary China are filtered through his initial experience of China in 1976.
