Current research by Phillip George titled Digital Fictions, explores the ideological use of the image as a mechanism of persuasion in civilian and military contexts. Phillip has traveled extensively in the Middle East investigating the iconography of martyrdom as an agency of strategic coercion, and documenting testimonial imagery associated with the practice of suicide bombing. His recent exhibition Night Vision focuses on night vision surveillance systems used on the battlefield and in covert operations. Through a series of large-scale high resolution photographs, Night Vision challenges the aesthetic and ideological associations of military visualisation systems.
