Curatorial Practice concentrating on Modern and Contemporary Art, Nationally and Internationally; Art Gallery Management; Art Historian and Theorist, specialising in the areas of Modern and Contemporary Art, Exhibition concept and realisation.

Exhibition Management and Curatorial Studies. Festivals and Biennales: Recurrent national and international exhibitions. Master of Art Administration.

Current Research Activity

Nick Waterlow is working on several key curatorial / research and writing projects. They are as follows:
The Australian Presence in 1960s London: Larrikins in London for exhibitions and related publications in London.
Colour in Art: Roy De Maistre and Roland Wakelin's ground breaking 1919 exhibition in a contemporary setting.
The Art of Curating Australia - 1961 to Today. Research commencing with the exhibition Recent Australian Painting at London’s Whitechapel Art Gallery 1961 culminating in the opening in mid 2006 of the Musee Quai Branly in Paris, towards a book examining and celebrating exhibitions, artists and curators who have brought the world to Australia and vice versa during this period.

Nick has recently interviewed key participants in different parts of the world and continues to do so, and additionally in Australia.

Nick is also researching the work of Martin Sharp, major participant in Larrikins in London, for The Everlasting World of Martin Sharp exhibition and publication, a project to be realized later this year.

Nick continues research into the development of exhibitions, publications, seminars and other professional development with Australian university art museum and gallery directors. This involves developments in research and implementation discussed at last year’s Launceston and Melbourne conferences, to be further developed in 2006 at meetings in Adelaide and at COFA.
