Introductory Profile:
Michael Esson’s studio practice explores the human figure and concepts of human mortality and is underpinned by a search for cultural and physical identity. Michael’s long-term explorations of the body, its structure and vulnerability, through personal narrative, move between physiology, physiognomy, and psychology drawing upon science and pseudo-science as a catalyst for creating visual interpretations of the human figure.
