Leong Chan’s current research focuses on the socio-graphic history of HIV/AIDS, graphic design, and the envisioning of national experience in East Asia. His collaboration with Dr Raymond Donovan (NCHSR) in the ARC-funded Australian Socio-Graphic AIDS Project and Southeast Asian Socio-Graphic AIDS Project includes innovative publications on the socio-cultural representations of HIV/AIDS, and curated national and international exhibitions. Chan’s research also includes the Design Asia Project which focuses on identity, modernity and national experience in the visual culture of the Chinese diaspora. Recent publications include Visualising AIDS: Images in Art and Design; One Risk, Diverse Responses: Australian HIV/AIDS Campaigns 1985-1999; and HIV/AIDS Imagineries: Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand.
