Jacqueline Clayton's earlier work frequently focused on systems of classification, the contexts in
which they are generated, their impact and implications. It questioned the manner in which
individuals are framed, defined and represented, and the means by which such information is encoded
and disseminated.
Jacqueline's current research has developed from these concerns to explore issues of
home/homeland, identity and memory, and the relationship of history to memory and to the present.
In so doing, it highlights particular (hi)stories of relocation, migration and flight. In
particular, it contemplates the role of objects in definitions of place and self.
