Diane Losche received a PhD in anthropology from Columbia University (New York). Diane has published extensively on the art and culture of the Abelam area of Papua New Guinea, and on art and cultural difference, more generally. She is the recipient of a major government grant to research the history of museums with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific area, and is working on a book on the American Museum of Natural History, Margaret Mead and the Pacific. Previous books include (ed. with Nicholas Thomas) Double Vision: Art Histories and Colonial Histories in the Pacific, Cambridge University Press (1999).
