Electronics in Sculpture, Installation, Lighting. Leader of research at, and Director of ERIA (The Environmental Research Institute for Art)
Allan Giddy is currently leading research aimed at establishing the Environmental Research Institute for Art (ERIA). This research centre will test environmentally sustainable installations in collaboration with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOP, SOPA). It proposes a dynamic synthesis of ecologically sensitive technologies, environmental concerns and challenging social vectors in accord with this iconic location. It will assemble resources to adapt heritage facilities for an energy efficient workshop to fabricate artworks as exemplars of best practice providing a new locus for sculptural media art practices as they meet alternative energy systems. On this site Allan's own artistic practice will involve the production and testing of systems termed "solicited collaborations".
