Introductory Profile:

Allan Giddy is currently establishing the Environmental Research Institute for Art (ERIA), a centre that will test environmentally sustainable installations in collaboration with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA). The research proposes a dynamic synthesis of ecologically sensitive technologies, environmental concerns and challenging social vectors in accordance with location. ERIA will assemble resources to adapt heritage facilities for an energy efficient workshop to fabricate artworks as exemplars of best practice providing a new locus for sculptural media art practices as they meet alternative energy systems. The ERIA site will allow the production and testing of systems termed “solicited collaborations” between Allan and his collaborators.
