Reports from the Surveys
Staff receive the results of the surveys on-line through the
MyUNSW site. If your course or
teaching is evaluated online, then the report will be available soon as the survey period is closed
and data analysis completed, and you will have direct access to student comments. If your course or
teaching is evaluated using paper forms, then student comments will be scanned and available to you
online.
Teaching Staff can access their Course and Teaching results, while Heads of School, the
Faculty Coordinator and Dean can access Course results only (without student comments).
Feedback – to students
Student feedback via CATEI is important, not just as a record of
student response, but also because it allows courses, teaching approaches and faculty support to be
improved in response to that feedback.
Feedback to students can be via a number of mechanisms. Students in the class surveyed can be
directly informed, via email for example. Students in the class that is next taught should be
informed using the Course Outline. Each outline should have a section which outlines how the course
(in general terms) was received and how it has been changed (if it has been), in response to that
reception.
Course Feedback – to School and Faculty
Every time a course is evaluated, the course
coordinator must report to the Head of School with a summary of the course evaluation (Form A).
Course Evaluation Summary Report
- this is to be filled out by the course coordinator for the Head of School to review and should
address the feedback from Form A. The Head of School must then provide a summary of this to the
Associate Dean (Academic) who will report the findings to the Dean and Dean's Working Group.
Teaching Feedback – to School and Faculty
At least once a year, continuing teaching staff
provide a summary of teaching evaluations from at least one course to the Head of School. This
course should be discussed with the Head of School.
Teacher Evaluation Summary Report –
details the number of students taught in the course and a summary of the ratings provided by
students.
Heads of School also report to the Dean through the Associate Dean (Academic) on the basis of
the reports received from course coordinators and teachers.
