Computing Requirements

All COFA Online ~enrich courses are conducted using our fully online Omnium™ Software. You do not need to purchase any software for the course at all.

You will need a computer with reliable Internet access and a suitable web browser. We recommend:

PC
- Windows 98 or better - Internet Explorer 5+, Firefox 1+,
Mozilla 1+, Netscape 7+)

Macintosh - Safari 1+, Firefox 1+, Mozilla 1+, Netscape 7+

It would be advantageous for students to have minimal technical skills such as the ability to take digital photographs and download them to a computer. Students need to have no knowledge of web programming or coding to take part in our courses. It should be stated that these courses are not intended to provide techical skills and instruction in particular software packages, although technical support will be provided regarding the use of our online delivery system/interface.

Coursework

COFA Online ~enrich courses are comprised of coursework supported by online lectures, resources and other relevant reference materials. Students engage in both individual and group activities/projects via a series of synchronous [live] and asynchronous [recorded] group interactions. Tutors facitliate group discussions and students receive regular online feedback throoughout the course in the form of peer and tutor reviews. Informal feedback in ~enrich courses will take place at specific stages throughout the course that recognises contributions of both individual and group nature.

You can expect to spend a minimum of 5 hours per week online involved in research and course related activities..

Important note: Unlike traditional face to face classes, studying online does not take place in real time. Therefore, it is important that time is spent at more frequent intervals throughout each week than simply allocating one or two blocks of time to do the work. Often we find it is better to spend 15 minutes a day rather than larger blocks of time every week.
