Off Campus Work

Refers to any work experience, study, research, work placements, excursion or field work authorised by the Head of School and conducted by staff and students at a non University of NSW site (ie. local, interstate or overseas). This includes travel between the campus and the site.

Off campus work and activities present some of the greatest risks to staff and students therefore it is important that the procedures below are followed .

Procedure for Half day and one day excursions

This procedure is applicable to off campus activity at public venues in which the students complete the activity in their own time (Visits to galleries, exhibitions, cinemas, theatres, etc.) and repetitive trips within the Sydney metropolitan area (such as taking students painting and drawing at the Botanical gardens).

  2. Document controls or action plans implemented to minimise such risks (as required). This to be completed by the Subject Coordinator or their delegates who are responsible for the student group during these trips.
  3. Provide students with any safety information required

  4. Ensure a fieldwork safety induction is given to all fieldwork participants before commencement of the trip.
