OH&S - After Hours Access
Working after hours and working alone, increases the risk of ceratin hazards due to the reduction
of immediate assistance in the event of an incident. To prevent incidents it is important that the
following procedure is followed.
After hours procedure
- All after hours access must be approved by your supervisor. Block approval may be given for
access to low risk areas such as offices ,computer labs and other low risk studio areas. No access
will be given to undergraduates (except for honours students or unless they will be supervised by a
staff member).
- For access to medium risk studio/ workshop areas an after hours access form and a risk
assessment for the work you will be undertaking must be completed. NO ACCESSS will be given to HIGH
RISK AREAS such as the sculpture and jewellery workshops Access to the Printmaking workshop and
Ceramic workshop have special requirements (Discuss with Supervisor).
- No individual, who has a medical condition that may give rise to a life threatening situation,
may work after hours or alone without notifying his or her supervisor of the condition.
- When working after hours you must enter and exit through Greens Rd. The Selwyn St gate is not
available for after hours access, except in an emergency.
- All staff and students must sign in and out when entering and
leaving the area.
- All staff and students working after hours must carry their ID card at all times.
- If you are involved in an incident after hours inform your supervisor ASAP and complete an
incident report form.
