COFA staff appointed to the ARC ERA Evaluation Committee

Professor Jill Bennett and Associate Professor Dennis Del Favero, from COFA ‘s research centres CCAP and iCinema, respectively, have been appointed to the Australian research Council ERA Cluster Two  Evaluation Committee.

ARC CEO Professor Margaret Sheil has appointed 22 distinguished researchers from the higher education sector to the Research Evaluation Committee for the 2009 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) trial. 

“Cluster Two encompasses the Humanities and Creative Arts disciplines, which represent unique opportunities for testing in the trial,” Professor Sheil said.

 “The 22 members of the Research Evaluation Committee are senior university academics whose expertise is broadly representative of disciplines in the Humanities and Creative Arts Cluster.”

The ARC advises the Government on research matters and manages the National Competitive Grants Program, a significant component of Australia's investment in research and development.

Professor Jill Bennett is Associate Dean Research, College of Fine Arts and Director, Centre for Contemporary Art and Politics at the University of New South Wales. Professor Bennett is an art and visual culture theorist who has published widely on contemporary art and new media, particularly regarding politics and trauma.  


Associate Professor Dennis Del Favero is an Australian Research Council Queen Elizabeth II Fellow and Director of the iCinema Centre for Interactive Cinema Research at the University of New South Wales. He is also a Visiting Professorial Fellow at ZKM, Centre for Art and Media, Germany and a member of the Australia Council's Visual Arts and Crafts Board.
