Third year Design students majoring in textiles have recently completed a three week project to
design and prototype sustainable solutions for re use of the City of Sydney Street Banners.
Students worked in teams and all projects were judged by Akira Isagowa on Friday the 15 August. The
winners were announced and presented with their awards on Sunday the 17 August by the Lord Mayor,
Clover Moore at Live Green at Victoria Park, Broadway.
COFA Textiles worked with The City of Sydney Waste Education unit Manager and COFA design
graduate Kath McLaughlin.
First prize was awarded to Softees, group designers being Lina Chen, Suely Lu, Didi
Qian and Annie So.
Second prize was awarded to the group who produced Cubed, including Rachel Furlonger, Elle Staykov, Katje
Harding, Irmer and Varina Krook.
Third prize went to Nick Walker, Kazuhiro Joe, Hawa Youssfzay and Julia Guo for their design 4rce.
The Peoples Choice was announced on the 18th August, and Rachel Routh; Sarah Long; Niki
Orenstein and Jess Tuttys group was chosen.
