Four COFA graduates are included to exhibit in Workshopped 08. Amy Cunningham, Luiza Milewcz, Bic
Tieu and Amy Tang, who was the peoples choice award from Workshopped 07, are all included in the
Workshopped exhibition at Chifley Plaza from the 13 to 23 of August.
The Workshopped exhibition is the largest single event of the Sydney Design Week, promoting
Australian designers through staging the show, and also through helping designers put their designs
into production. The Workshopped vision is "To nurture Australian design excellence and facilitate successful
commercial relationships between designers, industry and the market, both locally and
internationally."
Workshopped helps with the exhibition, manufacture, management, distribution and retail of
Australian product design, and finds 'solutions' to the problems faced by local designers moving
from prototype to production. They identify great Australian design and bring local and
international attention to it, with the exhibition as the first step in the process.
This year the exhibition, works to the theme of Why Design Matters and has more designers, furniture,
lighting, gadgets and homewares than ever before. The Workshopped group has aided the work of
several of its featured designers to go into production and has aided in the success of many young
Australian designers, including Amy Tang and her Flosion Stools.
Workshopped 08 is co- presented by the Powerhouse Museum and sponsored by Jaguar and Bombay
Sapphire.
