COFA graduate, lecturer and designer Trent Jansen has, jointly, won the 6th Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award 2008 for his design Kissing Pendants Lights.

The Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award was established in 2003 and is one of the most prestigious design awards, with over AU$40 000 worth of prizes to be won, including a trip to the Salone del Mobile, in Milan Italy.

The award provides opportunities for emerging Australian designers, on a local and international level, culminating in an exhibition at Object Gallery which will run from the 6 September to the 2 November 2008.
Trent Jansen is a recipient and finalist in a number of awards and competitions, including the IDEA Award 2005 and the Object New Design- National Graduate Award 2004. Jansen's aim is to create sustainable designs that maintain a lasting relationship with their users. The Kissing Pendants, Jansens winning design in this years Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award, are two separate lights that hang side-by-side, when the two shades are pushed together a magnetic attraction connects them and turns both lights on simultaneously.

The Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award Exhibition 2008 will be on display at Object Gallery from the 6 September to the 2 November.
