The College of Fine Arts, with UNSW, have joined the podcast revolution with iTunes U. Launched
this week in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK, iTunes U allows users to search and
download free video, audio and PDFs.
UNSW has become one of six Australian universities to launch a channel on iTunes U,
representing phase two of the UNSW TV project. The project will provide three digital UNSW content
outlets to UNSW users and subscribers -
You Tube,
iTunes
U and UNSW's own purpose built online channel.
iTiunes U, the educational content outlet of Apple iTunes, features free lectures, lessons,
audiobooks, and thousands of audio and video files from top universities, museums and public media
organisations from around the world which are all free to download and easy to access.
The UNSW iTunes U content will be divided into two sections, publicly accessible and content
only accessible by students and staff. iTunes U will be able to form the basis of regular
communication with professionals, industry groups or alumni who can now subscribe to regular
podcasts, including magazines in PDF form, while staff will be able to create podcasts of lectures,
with students downloading content directly to their computer or mobile device.
