What a Building Desires: Governor Phillip, Governor Macquarie, Aurora Place, Museum of Sydney, Richard Goodwin, 2005, digital print, 60 x 84cm.

Concrete Culture explores the fluid intersection between art and architecture. In this dynamic group exhibition, Asian and Australian artists and architects Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, Richard Goodwin, Ou Ning, Ashok Sukumaran and Squatspace create works which probe the complex relationship between public and private spaces in rapidly evolving cities.
Concrete Culture, curated by Felicity Fenner, is the first in a series of three exhibitions. In 2009 and 2010, exhibitions will also be held at the Casula Powerhouse and the Zendai Museum of Modern Art, Shanghai. This research is assisted by Australian Research Council Linkage Project funding and undertaken under the auspices of UNSW’s Centre for Contemporary Art + Politics (CCAP), in collaboration with the Casula Powerhouse.
