Artist and COFA Senior Lecturer in Interactive Media Arts, Petra Gemeinboeck, will exhibit in the 2nd Biennale of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki.
Working with sensor‐based installations, Gemeinboeck’s artistic practice crosses the fields of architecture, computer science, electronic media art and visual culture.
The work which will be included in Praxis: Art in Times of Uncertainty, which is the theme and title of the 2nd Biennale of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, is titled On Track.  Working in collaboration with artists Linda Dement , PRINZGAU/podgorschek, and Marion Traenkle, the piece is a performative installation involving a pendulous mechanical system, trapped robotic brushes and spilling viscous fluids. A disaster-prone scenario unfolds as the protagonists, apparently set to clean, spill, interfere with and hinder each other, creating an ever more slippery mess in intricately choreographed ways.
The work was produced in the context of the European project e-MobiLart (European Mobile Lab for Interactive Media Artists), co-funded by the CULTURE 2007 Programme of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission. The team of curatorial advisors includes: N. Czegledy, A. Bureaud, C. Galanopoulou, and R. Malina.

The group exhibition titled “e-MobiLArt” is taking place during 20 May - 10 June, organized by the State Museum of Contemporary Art and is taking place as a parallel event of the 2nd Thessaloniki Biennale in Warehouse B1.
The e-MobiLArt project aimed at providing the 33 selected participants with a multicultural, interdisciplinary context, for supporting their collaboration and the creation of their artworks. During the first year of the project, three workshops took place in three different European countries (Greece, Finland and Austria). In these workshops, participants formed groups and worked collaboratively for developing their projects while being provided with necessary technical, theoretical and curatorial support.
