When:
Fri, 3 Oct, '08 - Sat, 4 Oct, '08
Where: COFA, UNSW
The International Drawing Research Institute (IDRI) at COFA, will convene at the 4th Drawing
Connections Conference on the 3 and 4 October 2008.
“The object which I draw is not as important as the moment when I draw it. I have to
use the object because I have to draw. I don’t like and I never liked doing things from the
imagination. I always keep in mind my awareness of what is happening around me; I don’t like to
lose awareness. As I make a line I am aware that it is a material thing and that in it is my living
energy; that is proof that I am alive.’
- Gosia Wlodarczak 2003
Marking Time explores a broad range of
drawing practice - drawing which deals with the development of images or focuses upon a period of
time or place, or indeed the performative process where the act of drawing is revealed. Marking Time celebrates, and is
inclusive of, diverse cultural filters overlaid on the personal act of mark-making. The 4th Drawing Connections Conference creates the opportunity
in one space for artists, drawing researchers, writers and academics from many places to explore
drawing as an idea, a process and as an outcome.
Artists involved in Marking Time include:
Polish born Gosia Wlodarczak - performance drawing
