Doug Hall will discuss our public institutions, their programming and the conduct of curatorship in its various forms. He suggests that there has never been a better time for serious introspection; a chance to think about things differently. How do our public institutions, and their curators, respond to their relationships with artists, the approach to art history and the relationship of these to the public? Are we just seeing the same thing in different places and contexts?
Hall was director of two regional galleries before moving to Brisbane in 1987 as director of the Queensland Art Gallery. He initiated the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, conceived the idea for the new Gallery of Modern Art and oversaw its development. He is the current Australian Commissioner for the Venice Biennale in 2009.

When: Tuesday 19 August, 6:30pm.
Where: Main Lecture Theatre (EG02)
