For the last three years, Australian artist David Griggs has been living and working in the Philippines. Frog Boy’s Dissertation into a New Karaoke Cult is a massive painted tent commissioned by the 2008 Melbourne Art Fair. Griggs will discuss this ambitious project as well as the impact of the Philippines on his practice which includes photographing gang tattoos, large scale painting installations of Holy Week rituals, videos of Halloween in the slums, performance and sculpture.

Griggs travelled to the Philippines for the first time in 2005 and he was featured in the 2006 Primavera exhibition for Australian artists under 35. He completed a MFA in sculpture at COFA in 2007.
