McLeish will also discuss his current research project, titled Polaris Terrarum, which traces atmospheric disturbances
caused by global warming.
McLeish exhibits internationally and has been awarded numerous grants by the Canadian and/or
Quebec Governments. Since 2001, he has been working on his Red Sprites project with American
scientist Walter A. Lyons. This collaboration eventually led to Lyons receiving a National Science
Foundation grant which facilitated the creation of a DVD titled The Hundred Year Hunt for Red Sprites.
