Poster Girls is visually derived from a famous Rentz
Santley burlesque poster. The artwork is concerned with exploring age and time through the content,
material and genre of poster advertising. It plays with the materiality and disposability of
posters as the dancers succumb to the breakdown of the paper they are printed on. Posters occupy a
strange position between wall detritus and fine art. This ambiguous status works to full affect in
an alternative public gallery wall space like Three Foot Square.
Jessica Bradford is a third year Painting and Drawing major at COFA. She has been
exhibited in Firstdraft’s Square Dance fundraiser exhibition in 2007 and is part of
At the Vanishing Point’s Untitled exhibition which showed in August 2008.
