| Artist(s): | Edmund Iffland |
Edmund Iffland is a current student at UNSW & COFA undertaking a double degree in Fine Arts and
Arts majoring in Painting and Drawing, as well as Film and Theatre. Edmund has recently attained a
residency for the month of January at the Hazelhurst Gallery in Gymea, which will be followed by
his first solo exhibition. Painter by day and actor and comedian by night. He is currently
performing in Edward Albee's 'The Zoo Story' from 12th - 16th August at UNSW's Studio One and has a
number of gigs around Sydney as a stand up comedian. Edmund uses his talents collectively to create
his works; the combination of comedy with art generates punchy and satirical pieces. When he grows
up, he wants to be a fire truck.
Just going to drain the snake is a work taken from a
larger series called The responsibility of Adam. This body of work focused on
the images we associate with manliness, images such as; lumberjacks, cowboys, steaks and beards.
The aim of the series was to expose masculinity as something constructed.
