SEEING THINGS
Shuffling scientific ephemera with New Age iconography, my recent work has formulated a
hybrid crossing of two kinds of knowledge: science and mysticism. Likewise, certain recurring
motifs in my artwork - the journey, tunnels, vortexes, and caves - represent a crossing, a
physical passage between one place and another. My research has been exploring the potential of
these 'in-between' spaces, the convergence or difference of separate entities, to author new
fictions, as interstices for imagination and transformation. Representational painting is an ideal
means for me to present an illusory world, switching between real and un-real, between what we know
and what we see/believe.
