COFAspace
Gallery History & Vision
COFASpace provides a flexible and professional venue where students of the College can showcase their work and gain experience in gallery procedures. The gallery and foyer supply public spaces for viewing recent works by COFA students currently undertaking studies in undergraduate BFA, postgraduate MArt, MA (Course work), MFA and PhD (Research).
COFA provides this gallery as a valuable asset and educational resource, to encourage discourse and support between students, staff and the general public and to develop curatorial and management skills for Master of Art Administration students.
The Gallery offers practical experience in exhibition design and management, curatorial care, installation and promotion. It is a venue for annual events such as; ARTEXPRESS, The Jenny Birt Award, Fowlers Gap Field Trip exhibitions, The Australian Decorative & Fine Arts Society Scholarship exhibition and The COFA Annual Graduate Exhibition.
Occasional national and international touring exhibitions displayed in the venue provide an invaluable experience for cultural exchange.
The COFAspace program mirrors the concerns and interests of emerging artists. Exhibitors are rostered to staff the gallery, to provide information and stimulate feedback from visitors. Students are encouraged to support each other through interaction with exhibitors.
