Brief Course Description
Material Modelling explores basic crafting and construction techniques used in architectural
model making.
Course Overview
The Material Modelling workshop introduces students to a range of basic materials and
techniques which includes:
• construction and crafting skills
• additive and subtractive modelling methods
• material research and experimentation
• safe practices in handling cutting tools
Course Objectives
• Learn to use models as an evolutionary material object
• Visualise three dimensional ideas through physical model making
• Introduce and encourage the use of a variety of different materials
• Develop a playful attitude towards model making through colour and
material selection
• Develop an individual approach to model making based on self expression
and integrity
• Learn and practice professional and safe model making techniques
