Explore how to capture the poetics of pictorial space using a range of materials and techniques.
This program asks the student to draw from observation, and encourages each to demonstrate
the interplay between real and imaginary interpretations of the pictorial space. The actual journey
taken here is through the creative process. Exercises are based on the dualism of motion and
static, sensibility and decision, and playfulness and seriousness. They are designed to help you
explore your imaginative and creative abilities to intensify the sensation of a journey.
Friday January 23. The course concludes with a 1 hour
exhibition from 12-1pm of the students’ work, followed at 1pm with a short ceremony at which the
Dean, Professor Ian Howard, awards certificates to students.
