COFA provides students with a deep understanding of studio methods and techniques through studio based practice via small group tuition from recognised artists.
With a focus on 'learning by doing’ COFA staff lead by example, with many having been awarded national competitive research grants on the basis of their studio activities.
The COFA Paddington campus has a wide range of facilities of value to students, including a
large and well equipped workshop, a comprehensive toolroom and an excellent woodwork shop.
COFA also has one of Australia’s largest and most respected art libraries with a substantial collection of visual and electronic materials, books and journals and providing full access to UNSW Main Library’s 2.7 million items
All students have easy access to five computer labs for research and communication and to well equipped studios in printmaking, photography (both digital and film), film-making studios, sound studios, ceramic kilns, a jewellery studio and a sculpture foundry.
