Profile:
William Burdis has been working specifically in the field of 3D / CGI since 1987.
His credits in many major releases range from Digital Artist, Character Technical Director to Lighting Technical Director and Compositor, working within Feature Films such as: Harry Potter, Troy, Happy Feet, Long-Format: Arabian Nights, Alice in Wonderland, walking with beasts, Dinotopia, Commercials such as Addidas, peugeot and Next Gen Games: Hellboy, always in high profile production houses.
William was brought over to Australia in 2004 by Animal Logic (Sydney) as a Senior and Lead Lighting TD for the feature "Happy Feet", and Krome Studios (Brisbane) as a Senior Digital Artist on "Hellboy - The Science of Evil" PS3 / XBox360.
Industry Awards:
William received an Emmy Honours for "Outstanding Visual Effects" for his work on "Dinotopia".
Personal Remit:
"I believe that creativity is the core essence of the Human Being. It is only through the use of creativity that we can solve so many issues that affect us in small and large ways. The challenge for all of us is to release this creativity in a way that empowers us as individuals and as a collective whole, not matter what our personal creeds or cultures.
CGI has traditionally been a "logic dominated, left brain" area, however the technology involved is becoming more and more transparent, taking a back seat, and allowing "right brained" Artists of many differing disciplines to create in new and unimagined ways.
My mission as a lecturer is to disprove the outdated and offensive belief that only some people are "creative" (it's merely a matter of finding the right pathway).... and that CGI is for male geeks."
