Qualifications
M.Des(Hons), B.Des (UNSW), Dip. Dance (ABS)Zoë Jay Veness is an artist / designer working in the field of contemporary jewellery. For a number of years she has been developing a unique process that employs paper as the primary material to challenge preconceived notions of preciousness and wealth. Her intricate jewellery forms are the result of elaborate measuring systems and complex folding methods. Currently, she is interested in notions of ambiguity as strategies of engagement in jewellery art practice.
Zoë has been awarded numerous grants and in 2006, with the support of funding from Australia Council's Visual Arts Board, was artist in residence at Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland. She has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas including the prestigious Talente in Munich in 2002. Her work is held in the collections of the Art Gallery of South Australia and Griffith Regional Art Gallery.
