I have always had and still have a drawing sensibility deep down in my psyche. I started out however landscape painting, making small wood sculptures and constructing collages. It was the collage work that gave me the thought to try to animate all this material I had. I felt an immediate attraction to the medium. After a couple of years of making all sorts of films I formed a performance group that basically performed live soundtracks to our animated films. The "Even Orchestra" was a complex mixed media theatre/performance. After about ten years of touring throughout Australia, UK and the USA in both theaters art festivals and galleries we all went our separate ways.
I had a career making film clips for bands and even had one in the Museum of Modern Art in NY. However the call of art was too strong and I longed for a freer sense of form. I started making hybrid installations using animation and large sculptural forms.
These days I work in sculpture, installation, animation and experimental documentary.
Other areas I have worked in include. Web development, interactive design, travel blogger, fiction writer.
I exhibit at Damien Minton Gallery Redfern
The collage prompted me while I was still at art school to make animated versions however I started making an animated film.
