Specialised Studio Spaces
COFA has a range of specialised studios and computer labs
for each discipline.
Ceramics
Ceramics studios are fully equipped with the tools and machines needed to create, glaze and fire both handbuilt and wheel thrown ceramic objects.
Design
Design students have access to state of the art computer labs fully loaded with software as well as Design Studios for drawing, model making and prototyping.
Digital Media
Digital Media Labs and Moving Image Labs provide excellent facilities for interactive design, sound, video, digital imaging, 3D modelling and animation and HDV and DV video post production. COFA also offers fully equipped specialty labs for Sound and has a sound proofed Recording Studio.
Jewellery
The Jewellery studio is furnished with specialised precious metal soldering and fume extraction equipment as well as custom built furniture. The students also have access to a range of specialised jewellery hand tools and equipment.
Painting and Drawing
Painting and Drawing studios have abundant natural light, open spaces and access to easels. There are also special studios for life drawing.
Photomedia
Photomedia maintains a range of black and white film processing and printing darkrooms and colour printing darkrooms that accommodate all film formats.
Printmaking
The Printmaking studios are fully equipped with the specialised equipment needed for etching, screen printing, relief printing and lithography.
Sculpture
Sculpture studios have lifting equipment for handling heavy or bulky materials and students have access to metal lathes, welding, casting, mould making and wood working equipment as well as numerous power tools.
Textiles
The Textiles Studios are equipped with specialised machinery and facilities for designing and making screen printed, embroidered, dyed and constructed textiles.
