The General Access Lab

The General Access Lab provides COFA students with word processing, graphics, web authoring, e-mail and Internet access. The General Access Lab provides access for students not directly working on subjects with a computer component. 24/7 hour access is automatically available to all postgrad students and honours students.

This lab consists of 34 iMacs, including a range of high resolution ‘Flextight’ transparency and A4/A3 reflective scanners.

  • Disc Authoring / Burning: Toast Titanium, iDVD, DVD Studio Pro
  • Graphics and Multimedia: Adobe Creative Suite, iPhoto, Vuescan, Corel Painter, Isadora
  • Video: Final Cut Studio, DVD player, iMovie, Quicktime Pro

NOTE: No individual, who has a medical condition that may give rise to a life threatening situation, may work after hours or alone without notifying his or her supervisor of the condition.

The Digital Media Lab – F115

The Digital Media Lab provides facilities for interactive design, sound, video, digital imaging, 3D modeling and animation. Access to this laboratory is available to students of the College who are enrolled in formal computing programs courses. 24/7 hour access is automatically available to all postgrad Master of Digital Media students.

This lab consists of 22 workstations including one demonstration computer attached to a presentation system and 2 edit stations equipped with a second display and DVR. All computers in this lab are 8 Core Mac Pros with 6GB RAM and 24" Colour Calibrate-able Displays. In addition to this each computer is fitted with a ProTools Mbox for digital audio production.

The Moving Image Lab – F106

The Moving Image Lab provides facilities for interactive design, sound, video, digital imaging, 3D modeling and animation. Access to this laboratory is available to students of the College who are enrolled in formal computing programs courses.

This lab consists of 22 workstations including one demonstration computer attached to a presentation system and 2 edit stations equipped with a second display and DVR. The postgrad research lab is located in F221 . 24/7 access to the lab is available via application to each of the schools.

Labs with automatic 24/7 access:

  • General Access Lab – F104 (for all postgrad and honours students)
  • Digital Studio – F115 (for all postgrad Digital Media students)
